If there is one website to be admired of being so funny and yet so serious about how they approach it, it is probably The Onion. The Onion is a news satire organization which started back at 1988 via a small publication which later gained internet success upon its migration to the worldwide web back at 1996 and continued gaining success as of the present time. The Onion tackles real life news and creates imaginary ones to give a comic relief and retreat from all of the hard hitting and somewhat stressful news that serious traditional news media throws back to its televison audience. The Onion has its fair share of controversies and problems as there are reported cases that selected individuals and organizations did take The Onion's satire news too seriously. The biggest one is probably when Grant M. Dixton, assistant counsel to President George W. Bush wrote a cease-and-desist letter to The Onion, asking the paper to stop using the presidential seal, which The Onion used in their online segment poking fun at the President through parodies of his weekly radio address. Satire being a double edge sword may not fit everyone's taste but once it does, The Onion will provide a genuine source of humor and entertainment for its readers.
